If RCB Players Were Dishes, Who's Your Fav Snacc This Season?

Karnataka decoded through the only XI that matters.

Look. We all know cricket is just an excuse to eat. Match day is a buffet with breaks for boundaries. The only real question every IPL fan asks before tuning in is:
what am I cooking, and what am I going to scream at the TV between bites?

So we paired five iconic Karnataka dishes with five RCB players. Some are spiritually obvious. Some are personal opinions we will defend. All five are dishes you can make at home with one strong Wi-Fi signal and a Zoff packet doing more work than you are.
Pick your snack. Cook the dish. Tag the friend who would absolutely be the Mysore Pak.

01. Donne Biryani = Virat Kohli

Bengaluru folded into a banana leaf. Generational. Non-negotiable.

The most Karnataka thing on this list. Mint-forward, green-chilli sharp, served in a leaf cup, with chicken that gave up resisting forty minutes ago. The dish Bengaluru fights about for sport. Just like the man it's paired with.

Time: 45 minutes Protein: Chicken (bone-in hits harder)

Make it:

  1. Marinate 500g chicken in curd, ginger-garlic, 2 tsp Zoff Chicken Masala, salt. 20 minutes.
  2. Brown sliced onions in ghee. Add mint, coriander, green chilli paste, marinated chicken. Cook 10 minutes.
  3. Layer half-cooked basmati on top. Dust with Zoff Garam Masala, drizzle ghee, scatter fried onions.
  4. Seal with foil. Dum on the lowest flame for 25 minutes.
  5. Serve hot. Banana leaf optional, but full marks if you commit.

The mint is non-negotiable. This is what makes it Bengaluru, not Hyderabad. Do not skip it to look fancy.

02. Chicken Ghee Roast = Rajat Patidar

Slow-burn red. Slept on for years. Suddenly carrying the captaincy.

Mangalore's gift to the captain category. Deep red from Byadgi chillies, slick with ghee, smoky at the edges, devastating in the centre. Took the country years to figure out. Then it became the headline. Sound familiar?

Time: 30 minutes Protein: Boneless chicken thighs

Make it:

  1. Marinate 500g chicken in curd, 2 tsp Zoff Kashmiri Chilli, ginger-garlic, salt. 20 minutes. (Or use Zoff Tandoori Marinade if you forgot to plan.)
  2. Dry-roast coriander seeds, cumin, fenugreek, black pepper. Grind with 8 garlic cloves and a small piece of tamarind.
  3. Heat 3 tbsp ghee. Sear marinated chicken hard. Don't move it around.
  4. Add the ground masala + 1 tsp Chicken Masala. Cook on high till every piece is glossed red. 10 minutes.
  5. Curry leaves on top. Plate while still sizzling.

The ghee isn't a topping. It's the personality. Use real ghee. Don't argue.

03. Mysore Pak = Phil Salt

Sweet. Slightly foreign. Locally adopted in twelve seconds.

Phil Salt didn't grow up eating dosa. Doesn't matter Chinnswamy adopted him on arrival. Mysore Pak has the same energy. A ghee-soaked sweet from Mysore palace kitchens that has zero business being this addictive. Crumbles like it owes you money.

Time: 30 minutes Vibe: Pure sugar and ghee

Make it:

  1. Dissolve 1 cup sugar in ½ cup water. Boil till you hit a one-string syrup.
  2. Add 1 cup gram flour gradually, stirring continuously.
  3. Pour 1 cup hot ghee in slowly about ¼ cup at a time stirring the whole time.
  4. When the mixture turns frothy and starts pulling from the sides, transfer to a greased tray.
  5. Let it set for 15 minutes. Cut into squares while still slightly warm.

Yes, the ghee feels like a lot. That's the whole point. Stop counting calories it's a Sunday.

04. Ragi Mudde = Yash Dayal

Quiet. Earthy. Doing the heavy lifting nobody tagged him for.

Ragi Mudde isn't here for the camera. Hand-rolled millet ball, eaten with curry, by people who get things done. No garnish, no theatre, no Instagram angle. Shows up, gets the job done, leaves. Like the bowler who casually shut down the 19th over while you were refilling your plate.

Time: 15 minutes Pairs With: Mangalorean Chicken Curry

Make it:

  1. Boil 2 cups water with a pinch of salt.
  2. Lower the flame to absolute minimum. Add 1 cup ragi flour gradually. Don't stir yet let it sit for 2 minutes.
  3. Now stir vigorously till you have a smooth, dense dough.
  4. Cook 3 more minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Wet your hands. Roll into tennis-ball-sized smooth rounds.

Eat with curry only. Don't chew swallow in small bites. That's the actual Karnataka technique, not us making things up.

05. Mangalorean Chicken Curry = Romario Shepherd

Coastal heat. Caribbean roots. Pairs with everything on this plate.

Coconut, kokum, dried red chilli, and a slow burn that creeps up on you. Caribbean Mangalore is a crossover that shouldn't work. Then Romario walks in and does exactly that coastal energy from one ocean, immediate chemistry with the other.

Time: 35 minutes Protein: Bone-in chicken

Make it:

  1. Marinate 600g chicken in curd, salt, turmeric. 15 minutes.
  2. Dry-roast coriander seeds, cumin, fenugreek, 2 dried red chillies. Grind with grated coconut, ginger, garlic, 1 tsp Kashmiri Chilli.
  3. Heat oil. Crackle mustard seeds and curry leaves. Add the coconut paste. Cook 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in Zoff 5 Min Chicken Gravy as the base. Add the marinated chicken. Simmer 20 minutes.
  5. Finish with a splash of coconut milk and a lime wedge.

Eat with ragi mudde. That's the actual pairing. Rice works too, but Karnataka will side-eye you a little.

One last thing

The whole point of this list wasn't to start a fight about who's the snack and who's just on the bench. (Although, genuinely: please start that fight. The comment section is starving.)

Karnataka food and RCB cricket share the same DNA. Slow build. Sudden glory. An unhealthy amount of ghee. And a fanbase that, under absolutely no circumstance, will let you forget they're there.
So: pick your snack. Cook the dish. Watch the match. Argue about the line-up with your cousin.

Ee Sala Cup Namde. Now: Ee Sala Plate Namde.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Which RCB-themed dish is easiest for someone who can barely cook?

Mysore Pak takes 30 minutes and three ingredients. Ragi Mudde takes 15. Both look way more impressive than the effort. If you're really pushed for time, the Zoff 5 Min Chicken Gravy with shredded leftover chicken is genuinely a ten-minute dinner.

2. What Zoff products do I actually need across all five dishes?

Zoff Chicken Masala, Kashmiri Chilli Powder, Garam Masala, and 5 Min Chicken Gravy will cover all four savoury dishes. Tandoori or Chettinad Marinade is the cheat code if you want to skip the dry-roasting step.

3. Can I swap chicken for paneer or mushroom?

Yes, for all three savoury dishes. The masalas don't care what protein you use. Paneer works especially well in the ghee roast (same red gloss, fewer bones).

4. Why is Romario the curry and not the biryani?

Because Kohli is the biryani. Kohli is non-negotiable. We don't make the rules — Karnataka does.
